NORTHIQUE POD™

Ice bath

How long should each ice bath session be?

In order to get the health benefits, it's essential to remain in cold water below 59°F (15°C) for a duration ranging from three to eight minutes. Achieving optimal results with cold water therapy requires finding the right combination of time and temperature. Considering individual differences, some individuals may be more tolerant of lower temperatures.

What temperature do you recommend?

For beginners, we suggest initiating your ice bath tub at approximately 59°F (15°C) and gradually reducing both temperature and duration with each subsequent session. This gradual approach allows your body to adapt to the cold over time.

How much ice do i need to add?

We advise using 13-26 lb (6-12kg) of ice for each session in the Cold Plunge. The amount of ice depends on your tap water temperature and your desired level of coldness. In colder climates, adding ice may not be necessary.
The NORTHIQUE POD™, being insulated, effectively maintains water coldness for multiple days. Consequently, you might not need to add as much ice after the initial use.

How do i drain the NORTHIQUE POD™?

The cold plunge is equipped with a bottom tap for drainage. To facilitate draining, you can either attach a standard garden hose or directly open the tap, depending on the location of the cold plunge setup.

How often should I clean/empty The NORTHIQUE POD™?

For prolonged water cleanliness, our suggestion is to utilize 1 lb to 2 lb of sea salt (500g to 1kg). When employing salt, the water in The Cold Plunge can be maintained for three to four weeks. In the absence of salt, we recommend cleaning the pod every three to five ice bath sessions.

Can The NORTHIQUE POD™ be set up outside?

Sure! We designed the cold plunge to withstand weather and UV exposure, allowing for both indoor and outdoor setup, even in freezing temperatures. The insulation layer slows down the freezing process, but it's advisable to stir the water at least once a day to prevent it from freezing entirely.

Does it include a cover?

Yes. The NORTHIQUE POD™ comes with a waterproof cover designed to maintain the cleanliness of the water.

WATER CHILLER

water chiller

Water Chiller 1/2 hp compressor, 500watt power consumption. Uses a regular 110V US plug. ∼55 decibel noise level (comparable to a dishwasher)

Temperature capability:

Water Chiller 1/3 hp  chills water down to 41 degrees Fahrenheit (5°C)*

Water Chiller 1/2 hp chills water down to 39 degrees Fahrenheit (3°C)*

Weight:

Water Chiller 1/3 hp: 40lbs (18kg),

Water Chiller 1/2 hp: 55lbs (25kg)

Water pump & filtration:

20 micron filtration & 24/7 water flow which maintains clean & clear water for weeks to months. The filter and pump is placed low on the side with easy access for filter replacement and in case repair is needed, covered by our warranty, naturally.

Dimensions:

Water Chiller 1/3 hp: 12x12x13in (29x29x32cm), extremely compact and easy to move around

Water Chiller 1/2 hp: 13x13x14.5in (33x33x37cm)

Power usage:

Don't worry, the chiller will not break the bank and rack up high energy bills. It uses the same technology and compressor your fridge/freezer at home uses, which is extremely economical.

The exact power usage varies based on climate etc but expect to spend around $0.5-$1.5 per day in electricity (20 times less than buying ice).

Indoor/Outdoor use:

Both, the chiller can also be used outdoors, but be recommend setting it up under a covered/shaded area to protect it from weather and environment to extend its lifespan.

Is the chiller compatible with my existing ice bath?

Yes, the chiller can easily be used with your current Cold Plunge or even any form of other ice bath.
Connect to your existing ice bath (1 drain valve): You simply connect the hose entering the water filter side of the chiller to the drain valve on your ice bath. And the second hose coming from the chiller outlet goes into the ice bath over the top ring/edge.
Connect to any other ice bath:
You can also connect the chiller to any ice bath, bathtub, bucket - you name it. The chiller comes with a pump and filter, so you simply put both hoses from the chiller into any body of water to start cooling it. If your tub doesn't have a bottom valve to connect it to, you will need to siphon water into the inlet hose to start the circulation, please refer to YouTube on how to siphon - this is necessary as the pump cannot start the circulation of water if there is air in the hoses.

How cold can it make my water?

The chiller can cool up to 130 gal. of water down to 41°F (5°C) in climates with temperatures below 85°F (30°C).

Is the chiller gonna run up my electricity bill?

No! The Power usage is only 280 watt, which is comparable to the freezer/fridge in your home.
Example of power usage: at 77°F (25°C) room temperature, and chiller temperature set at 46°F (8°C) will consume around 1.4-1.8 kWh per day (every 24 hours). With today's average kWh in the USA that equals to just around $0.8 per day in electricity cost to run the Chiller 24/7. (These are estimates and can vary depending on the climate and temperatures where you live).

Does the chiller come with a filter to keep the water clean?

Yes, our Water Chiller has a 20 micron filter with 24/7 water circulation which filters out hair, skin cells, leaves, sand and other debris. Enjoy a clean and clear cold plunge at all times, ready for you when you are.
To maintain clean water for extended periods, we highly recommend getting our Water Maintenance Pack
This will allow you to keep the water in the pod for multiple weeks to months without algae, bacteria, scum and odours developing
Be your own judge of the water condition, and change it when needed. But if you choose not to use sanitizer to disinfect, we recommend changing the water every 3-5 sessions or once per week.
We also recommend cleaning the chiller's water filter once every 1-2 weeks. You simply unscrew the transparent cover, take out the filter, and rinse it with a brush and tap water, or spray it with a garden hose at high pressure. And replace with a brand new filter once a month to not cause damage to the chiller due to restricted water flow.

How much will i save on ice?

Assuming each cold plunge session requires around 20lbs of ice on average, and with an average cost of $3 per 10lbs, we have calculated that at 5 cold plunges per week, the chiller cost is made back in 3-5 months. Then you can also consider all the hassle saved from buying/making ice and the water filtration system built into the chiller saving you lots of water and time.
Investing in the water chiller is undoubtedly a smart financial & time-saving decision if you're a regular cold plunger.

How is the chiller so cheap compared to competitors?

We get this one a lot, but the answer is surprisingly simple. Our core mission at Northique is to make healthy habits accessible for everyone, so you don't have to sell your kidney to be able to afford a premium cold plunge.
Our water chiller is priced lower than our competitors because we have developed it from scratch using components from chest freezers. We also negotiate the best prices with our suppliers for materials and components by ordering very large stock quantities, streamline our production process to reduce labor costs, and focus on essential features without adding unnecessary ones.

Can I keep the water chiller outdoors?

The chiller is water-resistant, so it will not get damaged from humidity and weather. With that said, we do always recommend keeping it under a shaded spot/cover/shelter/overhanging roof to protect from bad weather and direct sunlight as these factors can negatively impact its performance & lifespan.
Security measures should also be taken such as bringing the chiller indoors if it's lightning or storming outside.
Important: Please do not cover it with anything like a cover while it's running as it needs to be able to get airflow so it can cool down, and always have at least 15 inches of space around the chiller.

What is the decibel level of the Water Chiller?

The water chiller is very quiet, and the readings that we have made range from 40-45 decibels so around the same noise level as a fridge.
